GOAL

Helping Polish colleagues to promote community organization in Poland, and making film-, photo- and written documentaries for the MATRA COP project

 

THE DUTCH DELEGATION

Willem Blok - lecturer of NHL and projectmanager MATRA COP

Berto Merx - journalist of the "NHL Krant", weekly newspaper with 10.000 copies

 

THE ACTIVITIES

The Dutch team is guest of the municipalities of Gdynia and Szczecinek and cares for a conference in each of those towns. The team contributes with a presentation to the X National Congress of the Polish Association of Schools of Social Work in Kiekrz. At least four lectures will be given to students in Gdansk and Poznan. The Dutch team will bring many visits to social workers and inhabitants of districts in Gdansk, Gdynia and Poznan, will attend and partipate in a number of special events 

 

THE REPORTERS

The Dutch will bring not only consultants, but also a team of reporters. Richard, Klaas and Berto operate as reporters whole week.

They will report about:

- Social problems in Poland (housing, poverty, unemploment, alcoholism, vandalism etc.)

- Living conditions in poor areas (and of elderly and youngsters)

- The work of Social Workers and the conditions where they operate in

- The students who study community work

- The initiatives to improve the situation (community work projects)

- The expectations about the future (living standard, democracy, freedom, European Union etc.)

THE PRODUCTS

The MATRA COP October Promotion Tour promotes community work in many ways and in different forms.

A number of written and audiovisual product will be made afterward. Journalist Berto and photographer Klaas will report in the NHL Krant. Together with Willem they will  make a 80-100 pages photobook about social problems and community work in Poland, with Dutch and Polish texts.

 

Richard makes a documentary film that will be released in  Dutch and Polish version to be presented for the first time on MATRA COP's National CO Conference in 2001.

The products will be NHL productions in the framework of MATRA COP, meant for a Polish and Dutch audience.
